Monday Morning At A Crossroads

It’s Monday in late November. The anticipation of turkey in the oven is reaching the tipping point. And we’re in the middle of the transition from fall to winter in more than one sense.

UMass football plays their last game of 2014 on Friday. The first Whipple year for the second time wasn’t quite as successful as the turnaround in 1998, but there is assuredly a sense of success surrounding this 3-8 team. They played much better than their record, though by no means deserving to collect more wins. They lost eight games for a variety of very good reasons. However, it was an undeniably fun season compared to the past few years, and the future looks bright.

Meanwhile, the basketball team is 4-1, coming off a good win against Florida State in Connecticut. They are a bit of a team in transition as well, working to define their roles and succeed against another very tough non-conference slate that includes upcoming games against Harvard, LSU, and DUNK CITY. But first, they’ll be hosting Northeastern on Wednesday night at the Bill.

It’s a short work week for most of us, but we’ll get a preview of the Buffalo game up before firmly shifting into hoops mode next week. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving, but remember these facts:
